Staff from the London office were collected in the morning by a specially chartered “Number 35” bus, which headed west out of London.

Daniel Weil ensured that the travellers were kept entertained on the journey by organising a game of “Guess the time of arrival.”

At 11:05, as correctly predicted by Simon Beresford-Smith, the London office met up with Justus Oehler and the Berlin team in the village of Hurley in Berkshire and began the second leg of their journey by steamboat up the river Thames.

After a five-mile cruise upstream, the location for the day’s activities appeared round a bend in the river: Fawley Temple Island, near Henley-on-Thames in Oxfordshire.

A picnic on the lawn was followed by an afternoon of Croquet, Boules and Quoits
